After October

I.	After October
I still want to be around
to see your hair grow long again
	   to brush it fine
	   and untangle the knots
	   hours at a time

	After October
	I want to share
	the beginning of winter
	   kicking through leaves downtown
	   after the promise
	   of an acoustic concert

	After October
	when I've kissed you
	will you trust me?

II.	Photocopiers whirr the silence sibilant
	   tire my eyes
	   and disarray thoughts
I gather from tiddly wink confusion
With each page sleep slips closer
	I succumb a moment

	   longer

	I color old doodles
	scratched in the tabletop
	to stay awake

	   dream of you
	      and wait
	      for the day to end
	      so I can see you
	         smile
	         and tell you

"Entangled" follows.
