Wine Cellars of The Grodog

The Grodog and his cohorts in crime have varied tastes in alcohols, so this snapshot of the current contents of the Wine Cellar will never be the most up-to-date district of Imrryr.  Cope.

Beers

My beers of choice number around fifteen or twenty, however, I currently stock only Beamish Irish Stout with any regularity.  The 75th Street Brewery's Rasberry Porter and Killian's Irish Red are sometimes also in the fridge, though.

My friend David Burgett has been brewing his own beer during the Spring of 1999, and though he hasn't hit the recipe for Beamish yet, his efforts (and tasting parties, complete with Speed Uno and Nintendo 64) are always a blast.

Wines

I've been trying to learn more about wine, which naturally involves imbibing more types, brands, etc.  I haven't managed to hit a Cork & Barrel wine tasting yet, but will sometime this spring/summer.  Some of the bottles listed below have special significance, and will probably appear on the list for awhile.

I've grown rather fond of Lockwood's creations, in case it wasn't apparent from the list below . . . .

  • One-tenth bottle of 1994 Chateau Souverain Cabarnet Sauvignon
  • One bottle of 1995 Lockwood Cabarnet Sauvignon
  • One bottle of 1996 Lockwood Partner's Reserve Cabarnet Sauvignon
  • One bottle of 1997 Santa Emiliana Cabarnet Sauvignon (from the Vicencios, the family my friend Doug and I stayed with while in Chile)
  • One bottle of 1996 Talus Semillon Chardonay (a Christmas gift from the Schattegens, my cousin's in-laws in Columbia, MO)
  • One bottle of 1997 Lockwood Chardonay Monterrey
  • One bottle of 1997 Delicato Merlot
  • One bottle of 1996 Talus Pinot Noir (another Christmas gift from the Schattegens)
  • One bottle of 1996 Vina Carmen Rhin (also from the Vicencios; another  Chilean wine)
  • One bottle of 1997 Yoakim Bridge's Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel (Premier Release) (a gift from my good friend Stacey for helping her with some tech writing stuff)
  • One bottle of Earnest & Julio Gallo Cafe Zinfandel undated)
  • One bottle of 1997 Gossamer Bay White Zinfandel

Other Alcohols of Choice

In general, these come and go rather more slowly than the beer and wines.  Some, like the vodka (whether Skyy or Ketel One) or Kahlua will always be available in some quantity, while others come and go with the prevalent mood.

  • One bottle of Di Sarano Amaretto
  • One bottle of Hiram Walker Blackberry Brandy
  • One-half bottle of Kahlua
  • Two-thirds of a bottle of Ketel One Vodka
  • One bottle of Capel Pisco (a Chilean alcohol, similar to a mixture of vodka and scotch)
  • One bottle of Romana Black Sambuca
  • One bottle of Domecq Sherry (native to Spain)
  • One and one-half bottles of Hiram Walker Sloe Gin
  • One bottle of Jose Cuervo Premium Tequila
