Grodog's New Greyhawk CampaignSession Log 01: Entering Hommlet (from stage left)The game went well tonight: none of the four guys had played D&D before, and three are in the 21-24 age range, with one being about my age (35); all had played PC/xbox/etc. PC-based rpgs quite extensively before. Since none of them had played the ToEE PC game before (as I had previously thought), I started to run T1 The Village of Hommelt, and I started them at level 2 to give them a better shot at first time survival in the game; they have no magic items, though they've got decent equipment, good stats (I pulled them from Rogues Gallery to save time on PC generation). The PCs all know each other now, having journeyed this way from further east, and are heading there to check out the rumors of evil afoot (per the T1 background). I gave them sufficient info to go straight to the moathouse if they wanted to, but they elected to head into Hommlet to get the lay of the land first, whcih surprised me---we ended up spending the evening roleplaying in town vs. exploring ruins. I think they're eager to start putting the smack-down on monsters =) They also approached or are in process of approaching Zert, Kobart & Turuko, Spugnoir, and Furnock to join their band, but have ruled out Zert and Spugnoir so far (though the PC mage is trading 3 spells for a copy of sleep from Spugnoir, which will certainly make him more capable in the future....). I'm probably going to raise the NPCs' levels a bit, since the PCs are starting at 2nd level. They've settled in, touched base with Jaroo the Druid, and picked the brain of Ostler Gundigoot, and will strike out for the moathouse in the afternoon tomorrow (I hadn't counted on a full-on gaming weekend, but I can't say that I'm displeased =) ).
