The Grodog's Musical Likes, Links, and Boots

My musical tastes, somewhat eclectic to begin with, have been changing a lot in the past year or so.  My new tunes page lists what I'm listening to a lot these days, so that'll definitely be more current than my Prog/Space Rock stuff listed below.

Black Box Recorder

Fish and Marillion

Fish, once lead vocalist for Marillion, has his own page that contains all the sutff you'd expect an official page to contain, as does Marillion's.  Freaks, the Marillion email digest, can be reached at freaks@ax.com, and to subscribe send a blank subject with the message text "subscribe freaks" to freaks-request@ax.com.

Hawkwind

Hawkwind, gods of space rock, have numerous resources available. (The previous link is their official page). You can inspect the BOC-l archives of the Hawkwind/Blue Oyster Cult email list, which include extensive discographies, lyrics, etc. To subscribe to the boc-l list, drop email, to our listserver, with "sub boc-l [insert your real name here]" in the text of the message.  The Hawkwind Codex: it cross-indexes all the HW songs on all the compilations, albums, live versions, Wierd Tapes, etc., and lets you know which versions differ from which. A must for the serious Hawkfan.

You should probably also check out Griffin Music, Hawkwind's US label, as well as Cleopatra Records, who also support HW and HW-related bands. Paul's Hawkwind Universe is worth checking out in general, as well. The excellent Rob Calvert homepages contain a wealth of information on Calvert, Hawkwind, Moorcock, etc. Frank Weil's Golden Void contains plenty of good Hawklore as well. Lastly, the Science Fiction in Rock Music FAQ presents a useful context for the further appreciation of Hawkwind.

For those of you who find that finding Hawkwind is particularly difficult, I advise you contact Mike Coleman of Delta Wave Music @ 214 991 6621 (fax 214 991 7552), the North American Hawksource. You can also write to Mike @ 7716 Briaridge Road, Dallas, TX, USA, 75248 (I wish I got kickbacks for this kind of thing).

Porcupine Tree

The Porcupine Tree email digest, run by Ivor Trueman of Delerium Records (Porcupine Tree's label) is a great forum. Email Ivor if you want to subscribe, or the list (first link) if you have a question.

Delerium's web site has official info on their full catalog of stuff, including that of Porcupine Tree.   Didier's page Linton Samuel Dawson also features lots of cool PTree stuff. (Speaking of LSD, check out this site for more info on it).  Of note as well is Steve Wilson's home page.

According to Mike Coleman (see above), Randy Priorson @ RPM Records (972 681 8441) is a good source for Porcupine Tree stuff.

Rush

The best sources for Rush info are  the RushWeb and RushWorld.

The Rush archives can be found in Maryland, as can info on how to subscribe to The National Midnight Star (Rush's email digest).  Also check out their official website at www.atlantic-records.com/rush.

Yes

For more information on Yes, check out Notes from the Edge, the definitive Yes resource (internet or otherwise). To subscribe, email Jeff Hunnicutt, editor in chief. NFTE hosts sites for Steve Howe, Jon Anderson (Opio World), Chris Squire, and Alan White. Rick Wakeman has his own page, too.

Tunes and Famous Footwear

This page contains links of a musical nature, as well as an extensive (and in dire need of updating) listing of the various live shows and such that I have; if you'd like to trade, drop me a note.   I have to admit, though, that I haven't done much trading since about '94 or so, and am often very slow to respond to trade requests.  I'm most interested in Fish and Porcupine Tree performances, as of March '99.  Just FYI.

You might check out the homepages of Ranjit Padmanabhan (on hiatus as of March '99) and/or Paul Olszewski, both sellers of great prog stuff!
