Born a Scorpio, Allan has yet to write the really cool poem to go with the title he though up several years ago, all about being a Scorpio and summing up his existence in 500 words or less. As he has hopes to actually write this poem sometime in the future, the title will remain, for the nonce, confidential.

However, such a poem would undoubtedly not mention that one of Allan's earlier recollections is conning his little brother Phil to stick a bobby pin into a wall socket, after having done so himself, and getting rather in more trouble for it the second time around.... It might wander to how Allan always thought himself a creative boy, having begun writing poems in the fourth grade (all mercifully burned), though most of his grade school peers considered him a sciencey geek rather than the professorial geek he attended graduate school at the University of Kansas to learn how to be.... (Recently graduated, he has learned mostly how to be poor). The poem would certainly contain the sum total of his lengthy roleplaying hobby experience, and the fasination--no, obsession--that has driven him to hook up with local friends who run a game company, to turn his professorial geekiness and writing ability to common and niche market ends by writing and editing gaming books, and such....

This is really getting too far over the top, even for Allan in a wierd mood, so consider the following the remainder of what you need to know about him:

Height 5'11", weight 146#, eyes blue, hair blonde and occassionally bearded (though he shaved off the beard, and later the goatee, rather recently), slim build, birthday unknown, patron deity Azathoth/recovering Catholic.

I recently read Brian Aldiss' An Island Called Moreau, and Michael Moorcock's Blood: A Southern Fantasy, both of which I enjoyed. I'm just finished reading MM's Wizardry and Wild Romance while trying to decide what I want to read next. I'm still rather up in the air about that, so if you have any suggestions, please feel free to email me with them. I'm currently torn between Fabulous Harbours, sequel to Blood, Dan Simmons' Endymion, and Robert Holdstock's Hollowing (thanks for that one Ton).

I've been listening to a fair bit of Hawkwind lately, having just purchased the _Love In Space_ live album, but Annie Haslam really seems to be taking over my cd player (her Bosnian Relief cd with Steve Howe--called Lily in the Fields--just arrived from Yes Magazine and it's quite good, though only 4:36 long; I'm listening to Still Life which just arrived Saturday from Tower--they had to replace the copy I bought in NJ in May). In any event, the Hawkwind Cover Project, is now--thanks the gods--done. If you would like a set, email me, and if I'm not totally insane by the time you ask, it's your's at a cost of $15.00 (which covers costs--4 XL2S tapes with shipping--and a little extra (about $1.50) to cover my losses since contributor copies were free).

If you're really curious, here's a picture of me.
