shades of blue
the last dark before sunrise
pulls away from old snow, etched
with whorls that wend in drifts like snakes
the tracks of ghosts and the wind
muted as veins
blued shadow washes over other colors
the snow--ocean and desert
waves and dunes that reach the sky
and blend--is caught by the tide
of your eyes
lake deep and filled with midnight
unfathomed
i inhale sapphire
and dive
slow circles ripple the surface
then drown
