Template:Bibliography is a template to make it easier to include bibliography data in articles. Given a book title, it generates a Chicago Style citations for use in the ===Bibliography=== section.

This documentation transcluded from Template:Bibliography/doc.

The following is the primary usage for sourcebooks (note the use of the asterisk in a Bibliography list).

Replace BOOKNAME with the full title of the book, or an abbreviation of the title. They are case sensitive. You may also use the serial code if an adventure or supplement has one. Some supplements may have other aliases.

Examples—

Abbreviations
Manual of the Planes, MotP; The Adventure Begins, tAB or TAB (but also Tome and Blood or TaB); Player's Guide, PG; also Folio; WoG or Boxed set; and Ivid the Undying or just Ivid.

Results

[edit source]

The template has been pre-programmed with entries for nearly all first-party D&D/AD&D sourcebooks and magazine issues. To see the full list or correct errors, edit Template:Bibliography.

A few abbreviations and aliases are supported. In particular, the terms "Folio", and "WoG", "Box", or "WoG Boxed set" are recognized as aliases for the World of Greyhawk 1980 folio and 1983 box set respectively.

In cases where multiple books have the same name, it is necessary to disambiguate (see List of D&D products with similar names). This is usually done by suffixing the edition in parentheses; e.g. "Unearthed Arcana (1e)". Take care to cite the correct book.

Use of the code "subst:bib" is recommended for efficiency reasons, as the template is currently 395,239 bytes in size and contains over 1,000 entries. Using "subst" will paste the bibliography entry into the article rather than loading the template each time.

Pages transcluding the template

[edit source]
The following list of pages are currently transcluding this template instead of substituting it. Any articles doing so (other than the template itself and its documentation) should probably be fixed by adding "subst:" before the template name (i.e. {{subst:bib). If this box is empty, then no pages are transcluding it.
