The Remodeled Dog HouseLife's been a bit busy of late, and all my web-design time has been going into the EHP page, which, as you can see (go ahead, check it out) looks much less grey than this one (since I'm updating this page from lynx, I can't really tell if it's grey or not, but I think it still is, since I only made a few pages not gray the last time . . . . ). The really important thing to say about me is that I just won the Langston Huges Writing Contest. I took the prose category with my "Betwixt and Between" personal essay (soon to appear online, I hope?), and made the finals with my poetry submissions (which are online, mostly on the new poems page). There will be a reception on 2/1/97 at the Lawrence Arts Center, in Lawrence, Kansas, @ 7pm, and if you're interested in attending but need directions, more info, etc. email Ann Evans, who's in charge there. Since my last (rather silly) biography section, life's been growing more tolerable. And, while I retain a high tolerance for life, and hope to keep it that way for years to come, that doesn't make it any less irksome when the wind blows through you at -58 degrees Farenheit, as it has for the last week or so. Brrrrrrrr. I've now been working at Sprint for about four months, and my graduation from The University of Kansas in May of '96 seems like years, and lifetimes, ago. And while I recently came sufficiently to my senses to leave my previous job at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, I'm still working sporadic weekend shifts on a sub basis, at least until they find someone to replace me. I feel a bit better about life now, which is, all-in-all, a good thing, and I'm sure getting more sleep in general is helping to boost that feeling. Getting back in touch with some old friends (hi Ton, Alex & Andrea, Chris, Donn, and Lara) has certainly improved my disposition, too. Now, if only Neo Pseudo would reform . . . . On a semi-authorial note, Epitaph Studios just published Age of Empire, in which I have an editor credit. BioHazard Games should have Blue Planet out in February, which is also when Pagan Publishing will release Delta Green (I wrote and read for these, respectively). I'm also talking to Room 308 Publishing (Blair Reynolds' studio) about contribuing poems to Black Sands. Writing has really picked up, in general, and I'm working hard to continue that trend. If you're in the Lawrence area, and are interested in a forming writing group, please email me as some friends and I are forming one soon. Return to Imrryr. |
