Crosse Ways of Ulek is a work of literature by Andreas Wythe, discussing the politics and development of the Ulek States. in 456 CY, it was recopied by Fentol, a "scribe of St. Cuthbert's church in Jurnre."[1]

Description

"The four volumes of the Crosse Ways compose a geographical and historical treatise of the County of Ulek unrivaled until the much later works of Pluffet Smedger. However, the volumes are written in octosyllabic couplets and rhyme inconsistently."[1]

Contents

Each of the four volumes in this work cover a short period of about a hundred years. Volume 3 is notably short, covering only ten years. Together, they comprise about four centuries of history.

Physical description

These are fairly small books, only 7" x 9", each with only 100-110 pages apiece. It is not overly adorned, with its vellum pages being decorated with patterns in the margins being painted in green. The illustrations for the four tomes are a series of twenty woodcut prints which recur throughout the text.[1]
