Favored Spawn of Kyuss are an advanced form of spawn of Kyuss; they are intelligent undead minions of Kyuss.
Description
[edit | edit source]"While the spawn of Kyuss are bearers and victims of their master's corruption, those who garner the demigod's favor are blessed by worms. Former fanatics, crazed visionaries, and purposefully sacrificed beasts, these favored spawn of Kyuss wreak his terrible will with an array of corruptive abilities. Found either alone or enslaved to the service of mad prophets, favored spawn take a vast array of forms and imply the demigod of worms' direct interest. In recent years appearances of the favored spawn have risen, evidencing the impending Age of Worms."[1]
The main distinction between favored spawn of Kyuss and "regular" spawn of Kyuss is that favored spawn are not mindless creatures like regular spawn are—they are intelligent undead, even moreso than they were in life, and they gain much more powerful abilities. Regular spawn are less powerful than they were in life. The main distinction between favored spawn and scions of Kyuss is that scions are even more powerful still. Lesser creatures can still become favored spawn (and are still more powerful than they were in life), while that is not true of scions—only powerful creatures become scions. Additionally, only humanoids and giants typically become spawn of Kyuss, while any corporeal, living creature (including animals and beasts) may become favored spawn.
Creative origins
[edit | edit source]Favored spawn of Kyuss are inspired by the spawn of Kyuss (also called "sons of Kyuss") which were originally created in 1981. Favored spawn were created by James Jacobs.
