Playing for keeps

[edit source]

Abra Saghast The town is actually called New Dosselford and in the Barony of Dosselford and the Archbarony of EastMarch. The original town of Dosselford is in ruins (need to find that citation).

This is where things might become difficult as the Barony of Dosselford consists of:

  • Azragorn - a 300 person village under Margrave Aramar Azragorn
  • Crystal Springs - The hilly area with a Pech Village inside
  • Daem's Shield - one of 7 keeps on the eastern border with Nyrond
  • Dragon Fire Keep - one of 7 keeps on the eastern border with Nyrond
  • Dreadkeep - located in the Aelinvudd Forest
  • Franzguard - one of 7 keeps on the eastern border with Nyrond
  • Keep of the Veil - one of 7 keeps on the eastern border with Nyrond
  • Oira Arta - one of 7 keeps on the eastern border with Nyrond
  • Thunder Keep - one of 7 keeps on the eastern border with Nyrond

With New Dosselford being the seat of power after Lord Mayor Verth took over from Nimar in 592 CY. -12/23/25 9:22pm (I forgot how to do the little thing where it time stamps for me xD )

Hey there, PlagueBearer!!
😆🤣 There's a "signature" button if you're using the advanced editor, or you can put four tildes, like this...~~~~
So, my first thought, with only an brief first impression, is "Why don't we just put that list (above) on the Dosselford page?" Just phrase it with something like,
"There are seven keeps on the Barony of Dosselford's (and the archbarony's) eastern border with Nyrond. They include: Azagorn, Crystal Springs, Daern's Shield, Dragon Fire Keep, Dreadkeep, Franzguard, Keep of the Veil, Oira Arta, and Thunder Keep."
... and if there's sufficient detail for each one, make it a list like above—just without the "one of seven keeps on the eastern border" part, but instead even a whole paragraph about each.
Dosselford is an official, or "canonical" or whatever city in 2000—that was the name of it before LG really began. If, at some point in LG history in 591 CY or later (I know the Mysteries of Crystal Springs is from 2001), it becomes ruined, or whatever, and renamed New Dosselford, then that should be included in a == History == section, I guess? However they explain the difference between Dosselford and New Dosselford, I think we can just explain that on the page, no?
I mean, I know it's slightly inconvenient to put the settlement and the realm on the same page, but, unless there's just an absolute metric butt ton of information on Dosselford, I can't imagine it'd be a problem.
Edit—Just noticed, Dosselford goes back to at least '93, in The Marklands. So, I guess like I did on the Crystal Springs page and put an {{LGsection}}. So, I guess this stuff should be in one of those.

NPC stats and individual pages

[edit source]

Abra Saghast Nimar has his own page as there's a good bit about him. I do have stat blocks for Ronco, Melinda, and Yurj. Ronco was an adventuring companion with Nimar for numerous years before they settled in Dosselford and Yurj lived in the Flinty Hills in solitude before deciding to move to civiliation and then later got engaged to Kewana the village priestess. So, pages, put it in Dosselford, or ignore? PlagueBearer (talk) 20:38, 24 December 2025 (EST)

Well, the Lord Mayor of Dosselford seems fairly significant lore-wise. But, this sounds more like NPC backstories than it would be actually related to Dosselford, itself. But, if they're not much more than a stat block, no, they shouldn't have their own page, and they should go in an article that gives an indication of why they're relevant.
Honestly, I think the "Abilities" sections have been wandering a little too far afield, lately, from various contributors. That's a holdover from the "Creature" template and got used for people, too. But, it's not intended to be abilities as in ability scores and stat information. Articles are intended to be lore-focused, and I'm not entirely sure I understand the lore significance of someone's dad who's a shopkeep.
One-liner NPCs don't get their own pages. That's something I think the CoU wiki didn't do well, at all.
At most, it sounds like they might have a sentence or two in the Nimar article under "Relationships", if it's pertinent to Nimar, and then the significant lore should be summarized. Otherwise, to keep them here on Dosselford, their significance needs to be explained.

Digging for bad accents

[edit source]

Since we're talking about Ronco and Melinda—I'm just bizarrely shocked that someone thought it was a grand idea to put Minnesota in an adventure, or whatever. You mentioned the "don't ya' know" thing in the Crystal Springs discussion, and I thought you were kidding, 'til I saw you'd put it on the description of the NPC. Frankly, I don't think it's all that important, seeing as Minnesota doesn't exist in Greyhawk. But, I gather that you think it's more than just dudes thinking it's funny to put absurd things in the game and make everyone else play it, ... so, I think we ought to find a better way of phrasing it.

"Ronco speaks with a distinct, bright-sounding rural accent,"

Or something to that effect.—Abra Saghast (talk) 23:12, 24 December 2025 (EST)
