Dosselford is an out of the way small trading and gold panning town in the County of Urnst and is the seat of power for the Barony of Dosselford in the Archbarony of Eastmarch.
Geography
[edit | edit source]Dosselford is in the southeastern corner of the County of Urnst, just south of Crystal Springs, and is right on the Franz River, which is the border between the County and Nyrond.

History
[edit | edit source]Nimar Chrysale Gellor became mayor of the town in 576 CY after he singlehandedly took out a horde of orcs attacking the town.[1]
Geography and climate
[edit | edit source]This small town is at a low, rocky point in the Franz River near Crystal Springs which has been used as a ford for generations.[2]

- Elegos (male human Com2)—prominent merchant and deputy mayor.[3]
- Folon (male human Com1)—follows Rudak around and agrees with everything he says.[3]
- Kewana of Pelor (female human, Clr6 of Pelor)[3][4]—moves to Dosselford in 588 CY and towards the end of 591 CY she becomes engaged to Yurj.[5]
- Larf Cobblerson (male human Com3)—formerly from Brotton, moves to a farmstead on the outskirts of town to escape some troubles. He lives with his wife, Anel (female human Com2), and two sons, Mager (male human Com1) and Folum (male human Com1).[6][3]
- Melinda Weathertoe (female halflings Exp1/Brd2)[7][8]—daughter of Ronco and works at the trading shop and speaks with a distinct, bright-sounding rural accent. She finally acts on her aspirations of being a bard in 591 CY[8] and even wrote a ballad that she performed at the Ollendi Playhouse in Radigast City.[9]
- Mayor Nimar Chrysale Gellor (male human Sor10)—Nimar is a powerful sorcerer and becomes the mayor by accident, after a horde of orcs attacks the village and he takes them out nearly single-handedly. His cat familiar is named Grinx.[10]
- Renald (male human)—member of the Dosselford militia.[11]
- Ronco Weathertoe (male halfling Rog5)[12][8]—Father of Melinda who runs Weathertoe's Trading shop and speaks with a distinct, bright-sounding rural accent.
- Rudak (male human Com2)—de facto leader of the "newbies", a group of young toughs who cause trouble in town.[3]
- Lord Mayor Verth-Mayor and Baron of Dossleford.[13]
- Yurj the Tickler (NG male human Rng4 )[3]—runs the Ticklish Trout and is an expert fish tickler and talks with a thick, harshly clipped accent. He lived in Flinty Hills for many years before coming to Dosselford [14]
Government
[edit | edit source]The town is led by the Lord Mayor, a sorcerer named Nimar Chrysale Gellor,[2] who ran New Dosselford until 592 CY first when he goes missing during Needfest[13] and then when he goes to Radigast City to act as Regent while Countess Belissica was absent.
Lord Mayor Verth takes over in 592 CY just before Growfest. He gained popularity amongst the new arrivals by rebuilding the shanty on the south side of Dosselford by opening up the coffers and giving new businesses a tax break.[13]
Barony
[edit | edit source]New Dosselford is the seat of power for the Barony of Dosselford. Within the Barony is:
Margravedom of Azragorn
[edit | edit source]These lands lay along the Franz River just south of New Dosselford.
- Notable locations
- Azragorn—300-person village under Margrave Aramar Azragorn and the seat of power for the Margravedom.
- Sign of the Drunken Bear—local tavern in Azragorn.[15]
- Uldric's Keep—Uldric Azragron, third son of Aramar Azragorn, maintains a border keep in the northern part of the Margravedom.[15]
- Donnelford Keep—border keep on the Franz river and is a minor destination for most ships.[16]
- Crystal Springs
- A hilly area of blue-veined crystal in the southeastern County, right on the Nyrondese border area with a pech village inside and above a crystal fortress/space craft known as the Village of the Earth People.[17] The fortress was destroyed in 594 CY when Countess Belissica sacrificed herself to close a portal to Tovag that was inside the fortress.[18]: The Village of the Earth People—is an odd combination of beautiful crystal spires and crystal slabs held together by stone and earth to form homes. While the majority of its inhabitants are pech, there are also Earth Elementals, Earth Mephits, Air Mephits, and Water Mephits. The village is ruled by Chieftain Kalan and his wife Dalian., both of whom are Pechs, and have a daughter, Taleea. The village shaman is an Earth Mephit named Talak.[17]
- Border forts
- These fortifications are all on the barony's eastern border with Nyrond, each with 60-200 troops. Contessa Elone Gellor put many of these forts back into service to emulate the Charn Castles along the Artonsamay River.[19]
- Daem's Shield - sits on the eastern edge of the Aelinvudd Forest along the Frontier Road and the Franz River just north of New Dosselford.[20]
- Dragon's Folly - is the southernmost keep in the Barony of Dosselford and sits upon a bald-topped hill, about 6 miles from the Franz River, along the Frontier Road. It was put back into service in 595 CY[21]
- Dreadkeep - located within the Aelinvudd Forest along the Aelin River, the keep was built in -50 CY by a devote worshipper of Wee Jas. Long abandoned it was rebuilt and put back into service in 595 CY.[22] The keep was instrumental in stopping the Troll named Brushnak from raising an humaniod army in the forest in 597 CY.[23]
- Franzguard - is a large rectangular stone keep on a ridgeline along the Frontier Road between Thunder Keep and Oira Arta. It sits across the Franz River from Kerrinn in Nyrond and was put back into service in 595 CY.[24]
- Keep of the Veil - is the northernmost keep in the Barony of Dosselford, just south of Crystal Gate on the border of Nyrond.[20]
- Oira Arta - is a high walled stone keep in a valley along the Frontier Road and the Franz River. It sits between Dragon's Folly and Franzguard and was put back into service in 595 CY.[25]
- Thunder Keep - is just south of New Dosselford on the Frontier Road.[20]
Economy

[edit | edit source]Mercantile trading and gold panning are common in New Dosselford.[26]
Notable locations
[edit | edit source]- Shanty Town - comprised of old ruined building on the south side of Dosselford that have been rebuilt to accommodate new arrivals.[27]
- Temple of Pelor - is on the north east side of Dosselford and stands between it and the Crystal Springs[27]
- The Ticklish Trout-Inn and tavern run by Yurj the Tickler.[12]
- Weathertoe's Trading shop-General store run by Ronco and Melinda Weathertoe.[12]
