Knife's Edge Pass is the only continuous route through the Abbor-Alz, though it is so difficult to traverse, it almost doesn't qualify as a "pass". The trail is narrow and winding, plagued by monsters, and the fortress known as Griffon's Nest is occupied by bandits in the 580s. Few travelers dare its length, and countless grim tales are told of those who do.[1]
Geography
[edit | edit source]Cutting deep through the Abbor-Alz, the pass links the Duchy of Urnst in the north to the Bright Desert in the south, realm of Rary the Traitor.[2]

Military
[edit | edit source]Knife's Edge Pass falls under the Western Abbor-Alz March and the command of Lord Commander Brondal Kruske[3]
Guarding this perilous route stands the fortress of Knife’s Edge Pass, known is Nil Keep, long a bulwark against threats from the Bright Desert. It was originally raised by Mordayl Maure, a cruel ruler who entombed the corpses of dead laborers within its walls. Known as the Immutable Fortress, it has endured for centuries, grim and unyielding against time and tide alike.
The Griffon's Nest also lays near the pass.
History
[edit | edit source]In 593CY, the garrison at Kelefane and Knife's Edge Pass were annihilated and the fortifications were severely damaged by undead.
