Talk:Crystal Springs
Those darned Village People
[edit source]In re:
"Not sure if I should add the village as its own page or incorporate it into this one.
... Nearly a millenia ago, a huge crystal fortress fell from Luna and crashed into Oerth near what would eventually become Dosselford."[1]
Beneath the springs and inside the crystal caves is a village of pech, the Village of the Earth People.[2]"
So, PlagueBearer, I think the thing of it, really comes down to how close the Village of the Earth People is to the springs, or if Dosselford is directly above it, or whatever. But, as I mentioned in the Dosselford discussion, unless there's just an absolute metric butt ton of information on Crystal Springs or the pech settlement, I can't imagine it'd be a problem.
There's not likely so much to be about either Crystal Springs or about the Crystal Caves below it, or about the pech settlement in them, that it'll add up to be an excessively large page. If you want to make a redirect that points "Village of the Earth People" to a section here on Crystal Springs that talks about it, I think that'd work, if you really think people would look up or be interested in the settlement unrelated to this page.
I think it makes the most sense to put it all in one place because people are most likely to be reading about all of it at once. —Abra Saghast (talk) 00:16, 24 December 2025 (EST)
- Abra Saghast The village people live in the crystal caverns that the players explore in Mysteries of Crystal Springs 1-3. It is only in 3 that they get in deep enough to meet them. So it's not directly under New Dosselford but close enough that Nimar sent people there, so it's definitely in the Barony of Dosselford. NPC wise, there's the cheiftan, his wife, and daught. There's an Earth Mephit advisor, an Air Mephit emissary, a water Mephit Emissary. There's fire salamdars that are agressive, Xorn. A market place with gems. The crystal fortress itself is actually a space craft. So... eh, I could write a big about it. A metric ton, maybe not, but a fair bit. PlagueBearer (talk) 00:38, 24 December 2025 (EST)
- I mean, it seems like you've done a pretty good job of summarizing all the really major points in just a single paragraph. Even if you broke it down into three paragraphs, of like Locations, NPCs, and History, I don't think it'd be excessive. Remember, you're not trying to scrape every adventure for the name and full backstory of every single NPC, no matter how small, or whatever... the wiki should never replace the sources, regarding lore. While I'm sure we could include a lot of stuff, I think overall, the pech and their settlement are obscure.
- Not for nothing, though.... I absolutely love 🫶 that pech are in there. Personally, I have this little bit of head-canon that it's correctly pronounced "peck", which is why Mad Martigan called Willow that. He was calling him a dirrty, little cave-dweller.

- I read it as "peck" as well xD As for digging up ever last bit of information, the vast majority of people do not have access to LG information and we intentionally make it more difficult by not including the Region/Year/Adventure codes, so that's one of the reasons I dig. Ronco and Melinda both speak with a thick Minnesotan accent.. that's important and I feel we need to add it don't you know :D PlagueBearer (talk) 17:42, 24 December 2025 (EST)
