What's New at The Dreaming City in 2010-2013?

29 September 2013

More updates to the Greyhawk Links page.

17 August 2013

I updated the Castle Greyhawk Sources page with links to the various source articles, as well as adding some updates to the Greyhawk Links page. More to come soon!

19 November 2012

My access to the site is now restored, so I've re-posted the entire site from it's March 2011 backup. More to come soon!

11 November 2010

Updates to Greyhawk Links, and Greyhawk and Early D&D Tournaments.

7 October 2010

I uploaded a new filled Dungeon Level 07 (007?) map for my Castle Greyhawk (although it's not really level 7 anymore---I'm working on some new maps to replace this one as the dual level 7 maps).

25 September 2010

I linked in the many Castle Greyhawk maps that I've been creating since December 2008's watershed "The Landings Level" map. The maps are currently only linked in from the table-of-contents on that page, since I haven't culled the various notes about the maps and encounters from the threads on Knights & Knaves Alehouse's Megadungeons forum yet, but I will do so eventually.

29 June 2010

Catching up on some other long-overdue updates: added the Castle Greyhawk info from Gary's April 1975 Europa article to my Castle Greyhawk Sources and -Details pages, along with a smatteirng of more-contemporary sources (Rob's Bottle City and "Living Room", etc.).

22 June 2010

Well, it's been a slow year for updates, obviously.... Last week I received my 10th anniversary gifts for my years at Juniper Networks, which was somewhat flabbergasting (that it's been 10 years!---not that they gave me gifts [which incidentally included an Amazon Kindle :D ]), and work's been very busy all year long, making the rest of life busy, and web site updates few and far between....

I added a link to my review of Curse of the Witch Head by XRP, and had hoped to be writing some new Call of Cthulhu reviews for the newly-relaunching The Unspeakable Oath magazine (where I got my first professional review publishing credits), but the dates for my return to the 'States from Europe changed, and I may not be able to make the deadline. Perhaps just one review....

Believe it or not, I'm around, but most of my work on the site recently has been doing housecleaning on bad links and such, as well as working on my revisions and expansions to my version of Castle Greyhawk: I realized while prepping for GaryCon 2 last month that I've created ~20 more levels and sub-levels in the past 15 months or so, so I'm going to sit down in earnest and do some re-rationalizing of my Castle over the rest of the year.

In terms of tracking what I've been doing on the site, the main web site update date is always accurate, and I do log updates on this What's New page when they're more than simple fixes of typos and bad links (and I need to roll this page into 2010, it seems...). I've also been keeping a poorly-updated Castle Greyhawk design log update @ http://www.greyhawkonline.com/grodog/gh_castle_grodog.html#devlog (I haven't updated it in a year+, but I will eventually comb the contents from the K&K posts [see below] into it to make it current).

Most of the Castle GH maps that I've been posting have been over in the Megadungeons forum at Knights & Knaves @ http://www.knights-n-knaves.com/phpbb3/viewforum.php?f=28 as well as in the "Megadungeon Mapping" thread on Dragonsfoot @ http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18710

I don't really make update announcements about new site updates, since most of my updates aren't really announcement worthy, per se. Working on publishing again has really sapped by posting time (well that, plus our two boys, and Ethan's now 6 and in Kindergarten and has homework we have to make sure he does, and all that). Too many irons in the fire, as usual! I am in the midst of designing a special level for Castle GH that I'll run at North TX RPG Con in June, and I just ran two sessions in the Castle at GaryCon, too. And I'm doing a DCC Conversion for Black Blade (see below), and working on a book of dungeon design essays, and actually starting to sort through spare books to begin to sell them on eBay, and continuing my various lines of D&D and tourney and GH research, and.... You get the idea, I'm sure ;)

While I'm still good friends with Rob Kuntz, and was very happy to see him in Lake Geneva a few weeks ago, I'm not really engaged with his Pied Piper Publishing much anymore (although I am still hoping to print his Lost City of the Elders, among many other projects!). I've been working with Jon Hershberger on our Black Blade Publishing venture since the beginning of last year (2009), and we've published a number of Swords & Wizardry titles, including the main S&W rules, Knockspell Magazine (#4 just got back from the printer this week), and various others. Details @ http://www.black-blade-publishing.com/

That's about it for me, for now! I'll try to be a bit more proactive about communicating what I'm up to, if folks are that interested.

22 March 2010

I wrote a new poem (believe it or not!), after visiting Lake Geneva, WI, for GaryCon II. "saturday at lake geneva" is the first poem I've written since 2006.
