Updates and Upgrades to The Dreaming City

Imrryr has been updated often since the launch of the site in March 1996.  At that time, I had never really considered offering a detailed analysis of what exactly the changes were (primarily because I didn't really think anyone would care).  However, I've begun to feel that letting people know what's changing is a good idea . . . .

So, without further ado, here's the scoop:

11 December 1999

A few changes to the Stuff list:  removed Vic Contoski's Broken Treaties and added all the Porcupine Tree tune-age I lack.  I also changed a few links on my Music page, but a few are still bad (Rush in particular).

07 December 1999

I tweaked Heather's Profile and my Stuff wish list (removal of all Vermillion titles by Lucius Shepard save #10 and #11, which I still lack).

04 and 05 December 1999

Good news!  Doug Hesse, of black dog imageworks, recently informed me that he has shot many new images of forks:  more forks poems will be forthcoming shortly as a result!

I worked more on Seaflower's Profile as well as the main Heather page.   I also  began to reformat all of my poems in Migration Patterns; I got a far as Adrift in the first section of Dreamscapes before burning out.

02 December 1999

I changed the formatting on the essays page, as well on my main poetry page.  I also build the guts of the Heather's Seaflower Profile page, but didn't do any more than that, so it will still be a little while before it appears.

29 November 1999

After my wonderful visit to Heather's family in Wichita, I'll be updating my bio soon with the details.  In the meanwhile, I added another two Door Poemsjazz and the untitled Someone poem.  I also added a few items to my Wish List (aka, Stuff).

24 November 1999

Wow, I've really slowed down in the past week or so--must be that whole IN LOVE thing 8-)

I've added some new Door Poems, and created a new section in The Dog House for stuff I'm seeking.   Hopefully I'll do better at keeping it up to date than I do with my bootleg listings . . . .  I also tweaked my last two bios, the Door Poems and new tunes pages, the latter of which is overdue for an overhaul, again.   I've been compiling a bunch of new literary links and rare book dealers, so hopefully my literary stuff page will get a facelift over the holiday.

I hope everyone who cares about Thanksgiving has a wonderful holiday (or at least a good weekend for the rest of the world).

15 November 1999

I added a link to my essays on the main page, changed Grodogiana to a basic links page, and tweaked The Dog House a bit (by adding some of the links from Grodogiana to it, since that page was sort of a proto-Dog House anyway, but has been supplanted by The Dog House after basically devolving into a mere links page).  I also tweaked my literary links page.

14 November 1999

I named all the changes that I made below for 11/11 on 11/12, but didn't upload them 'til today.  Also, at long last, I updated my bio with details from October.  That took so long though, that November isn't done yet, but will appear soon.  Also added the Door Poems that October moon (long and short versions), the untitled these walnut eyes poem, and the scurries' seekings to the new poems page.

11 November 1999

Too early to think.  I added the new Door Poems that I didn't create last night.

[Later in the day, after work].  Really added the older poems that I mentioned below:   several Door Poems (through the crannies, expectations, the moist clutches of autumn, soul web, the nothing heaven, young winter, magic and rhythm, you bleed yesterdays, the untitled "soft shadows," angels sing circles); I also tweaked a few older door poems, and added the old poem five minutes.

10 November 1999

I tweaked Heather's page, created a Door Poems page (at last count I'm up to a score or more of the buggers, so I figured that they needed their own home), and added a bunch of older poems online.  I still didn't finish my bio update, but that's only   because I talked to my Aunt Donna Davis for awhile, which was a much cooler way to spend the time.  Bio to follow.  Really!

Ooops.  Well, I'm crashing now, and haven't done much of the above.  "Tomorrow, tomorow, I love ya, tomorrow..."

9 November 1999

I had hoped to add a new bio page but I'm too sleepy to finish it, and will finish updating it in another day or so.   I did add another poem (sneaking a peek--about my dear love, Heather), added some recent Michael Moorcock news and fixed an Elric Image Gallery link, and tweaked a few miscellaneous things in The Dog House, my profile, the main page, etc.  More later.

7 November 1999

Added more poems, including "she," written about Heather, the final two poems to complete the Dreamscapes section of Migration Patterns ("Chiaroscuro" and "dehydration dreams"), and a few more from the Seekings section as well.

I also added the text of Robert Hemenway's article The Evolution of a Controversy in Kansas Shows Why Scientists Must Defend the Search for Truth from The Chronicle of Higher Education, which details the story of evolution and the Kansas State Board of Education.

Tomorrow I'll turn 30--woohooo!  Should be fun!

1 and 2 November 1999

Haven't worked much on the web site in the past week, but I did add another picture of me to my images page.  More to come tomorrow night.

27 October 1999

I added more poems to the new poems page, including several other door poems, and I finished uploading all of the poems from The Flood of Night section of  Migration Patterns.  I also worked on Heather's page a little, and added an intro to "Magic and Octagons, Dust and Stuff" on the main essays page.

24 and 25 October 1999

I worked more on the main poems page; added a page about my dear love, Heather (which also doubles nicely as an update to my latest bio, so read it then all about Heather and I, and spare me the need to update the bio for another few weeks);  added a bunch of poems that weren't previously online, and added my essay "Magic and Octagons, Dust and Stuff."

19 October 1999

I re-organized the main poems page and am happier with it than I have been in quite some time.  I also tweaked the Slouching essay, Dark Noon, re-added titles to the new poems page, added three new poems (ryun's poem, and the pair of untitled poems two fiddles and tiny storm), and corrected typos in both personal essays.  More to follow.

17 October 1999

I added some intro notes to the essays page, as well as a short critical piece on Joan Didion's seminal Slouching Towards Bethlehem collection of essays.  I also changed the poems page back so that it lists all the poems that I'm still working on, since it looked like I haven't done anything at all this year, which is far from the case--I've just been pickier (and lazier) than usual.   I'll create a page with all the titles (poems/essays/games/etc.) that I've come up with over the past 10+ years to a new titles page soon-ish.  Maybe that'll even inspire me to write a few of them.

13 October 1999

Added essays page to The Dog House, with two entries:  "Betwixt and Between" and "The Closer Side of Night."   Corrected a few typos in "Piano Lessons" and made a few minor tweaks otherwise.

10 October 1999

At the indirect suggestion of a friend, I added some years to the poems page, and will do so for the titles page soon (that's a bit more difficult to figure out, since I have to root through old journals to find when particular titles were created).

I also corrected a few typos here and there, and changed a few links in my bio and the New Tunes pages. I have to work on my resume again, so perhaps that'll finally appear here (where it has probably belonged for the past three years or so . . . . ).

6 October 1999

Added a few more notes/links to New Tunes. Corrected an embarassing typo in watermarked--only Azathoth knows how long its been there....

3 October 1999

I tweaked the New Tunes pages, and uploaded all the changes I hadn't sent to the  server thus far.  I also updated the Gram Visit pages, so try to keep me in the loop on visits to her.

1 October 1999

I fiddled with just about all of my bio pages--from the oldest to the most recent; I relinked in several that I'd lost, but then refound (they appear at the end of the most recent bio). I also tweaked the info on my pictures page, and gave further thought to adding a books/movies page (but didn't in the end, because I'm sleepy and crashing early @ 23:24, after a lengthy evening of web work, email, and chat sessions with my little sister and my friend Kimberly in NJ).

I had also made some changes to the profile, but they got lost while I got lost in which versions of the files were more recent:  pc or server.  Alas.  Well, I'm off--the Dead Can Dance is making me sleepy.

29 September 1999

I tweaked a few pages, added a Contact the Grodog page, and will finally change the poems page to list only written poems--I'll create a seperate titles page for the as-yet-unwritten poems.

26 September 1999

A new bio is out there, which actually finishes up the last one, and brings me up to date in general.  Some new poetry will appear soon-ish.  Also, look for some web-host changes coming down the pike (though not probably for another month or so).  I tweaked my profile info as well, and the color scheme on this page.

Evil lightning en route, shutting down!

22 September 1999

Updated the Gram Visits and the Grodog profile.

14 September 1999

I updated my profile, added a second image of me, and worked a little more on Gram's Visting page

13 September 1999

Well, at long last I sold my share in EHP, and can now focus fully on me, ME, ME!  :-)  So, naturally, I take this time to begin constructing a web page my extended family--the rather blasely (is that a word?) named Extended Wilson Family Homepage.  More to come on that soon.

11 and 12 September 1999

Miscellaneous tweaks to existing pages, mostly fixing spelling mistakes, etc.

22 August 1999

Added more details to my bio, the Dog House, poetry, moved around links on the main page, and otherwise foodled awhile.

14 August 1999

I'd like to think that I had updated this page since the end of May, and, in fact, I think I did: I added a few poems and/or titles to the poems page, but I don't believe that I've done more than that. Oh well. I guess I'll have to have one of those manic must-update-the-web-site phases soon. In the meanwhile, enjoy the new bio, the updated profile, and, if I'm lucky, another poem or two.

30 May 1999

I added "Her Voice" to the poems page, tweaked a few backgrounds, and updated my bio on The Dog House.

1 May 1999

Made some general tweakings (hmmmm, I'm beginning to over-use that word, I think:  have to find a new one . . . . ) to the page in general, especially the Dog House (apparently, my new favorite place to play).  This included moving the Dog House into the "main attraction" section of Imrryr's title page, and I thought about removing all the titles from the poems page which I've really not begun to work on at all, but decided not to bother, since they will get written, eventually.

21 April 1999

Tweaked the wine cellars of The Dog House, fixed a few links in some very old bios (one or two were completely unlinked, which is why I only recently rediscovered my picture), and added a somewhat-butchered version of the profile I had created on www.kc.matchmaker.com.  I figured since it wasn't doing me any good there, I may as well put the writing to some vague use, and not waste it.

17 April 1999

Found that I actually had an image of me online, so I linked that in on The Dog House, newly revamped and expanded.  I also removed my delusional poem-a-week info from the main page, due to acute embarassment at not writing any new poems yet:  sad, but true.

6 April 1999

It's National Poetry Month, so I'm going to write and post one new poem per week for the month of April.  They'll be real poems, as opposed to poems-I'm-working-on, or cool-titles-I-hope-to-someday-turn-into-poems (which I recently discovered occupied much of my new poems page . . . . ).  I've still got one day left to get the first one completed.

22 and 23 March 1999

Rebuilt and relinked most of the games page (yes, the links may even be 90% live!), including adding rules for the infamous Speed Uno.  Also fixed the poem, The Drake, so that it would be readable, on both the new poems page and the trying to build a book from these poems page.

20, 21, and 22 March 1999

Hey, I added a new bio page, and almost put my resume and a description of my job  online, but didn't since it was going to be a formatting nightmare.  I did add new poem titles I'm working on to the poems page, and compiled my favories on the poetry page, which should stimulate me further into thinking about how to build a book from them, hopefully.  I also tweaked the music and new tunes pages.

15 March 1999

Added info on Michael Moorcock's appearance at the London Festival of Literature to the MM page.  Still trying to figure out what's up with the font/headers on this now-annoying page: gotta love FrontPage . . . .

07 March 1999

Wow:  Imrryr's almost three years old.  Hard to imagine.  A lot has changed in the past three years:  perhaps something for me to muse on and write about soon . . . .   I tweaked the main page, and began to work on a page to consolidate my poetry.  That's about it.

21 February 1999

I added a link to the Elric Image Gallery. Can't believe it's been three months since an update again....

4 December 1998

Added more Chilean images and links, including to The Leaven, which is where the stories for the Chilean trip are online.

15 November 1998

Well, I updated the info on the Nomads of the Time Streams--it's all current and such. I also fixed the Eternal Champion Webring graphic.

3 November 1998

It seems I didn't update this page 10/16/98 for my last update, but I don't recall what I did then, either, so I can't really tell you now (other than updating the poetry pages).

I'm working on my trip to Chile, and will be getting more materials up soon. I also updated my bio for the first time in a few aeons.

16 August 1998

Wow, it's been awhile. I updated the new poems page, and should be adding in new poems over the next week or so, as I'll be on vacation in NJ for a 150+ attendee family reunion. For now, I've added That Fine Line, sex and tatoos cigaretes and ice cream (a pair of older poems that finally came together--literally--with the input of some recent inspiration), and revised some older poems.

1 March 1998

I fixed the file changes from the 23rd (they were on the wrong server).

23 February 1998

I removed the link to Stranger than Fiction, and added the one for Food for Thought. StF may be added back, if the group does get off the ground again.

9 January 1998

I restored the poems.html page and that's about it.

8 January 1998

Looks like I deleted the main poem listing by mistake. I'll have to upload it from backup, so it'll be back probably tomorrow. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I also updated (deleted all the out of date stuff) the MM page, B5 page, and Grodogiana.

1 January 1998

I added some new titles to the poems listing, and one new poem. I'll get to more sooner vs. later, I hope.

15 and 16 November 1997

I added some new poems to the page, though I was unable to work out backgrounds for most due to problems with either rpg.net, idir.net, or something. I also corrected all the typos I could find in The Dog House, which was a considerble number, I am ashamed to admit.

26 October 1997

I added a few new poems to the page, as well as continuing the Dog House update.

25 October 1997

Wow. Two full months without an update. A new record! Woohoo!

Heh. Well, I updated the Dog House, fixed the Eternal Champion webring graphic, and will begin a rehaul of the site soon. I've actually got some new software that I may try out to accomplish the goal more quickly, too. More to follow.

24 August 1997

I added almost all the poems from the poems page that were not yet online, as well as several new ones.

16 August 1997

I tweaked backgrounds some, added the MM Worldcon info, and that's about it. Serious work to appear in the next week or so, including [gasp] the updating of all the outdated links on the page! :-)

20 July 1997

I changed the image for the EC Webring, to the slimmer, less-obtrusive one now on the front page, and am updating the bio's and such since I just gave the URL for Imrryr out to a few folks on InterNet Park, and thought they might appreciate not reading info 6-9 months old (and who says I don't have a conscience :-)

The companion Gravity Well will get a similar facelift in the next day or three.

08 July 1997

Hey look--something new! I added Imrryr into the Eternal Champion Webring. Nifty! I may even get around to updating the site more before September, if I'm lucky....

17 May 1997

Dear god it's been a month with no update. Oh well--I can at least plead that my modem was zapped by lightning to account for some of it. I added the link back to EHP on my main page, and updated this. I'll add the MM announcement stuff too.

9 April 1997

I added the MM online announcement, and updated the listing of new poems, info on the new writing group I'm forming, and such.

22 March 1997

Nothing new really. I'll be gone all week at GAMA at the Reno Hilton, so if you need to reach me there, call 800 648 5080, and ask for the room for Dave Sturm and/or John Phythyon (the room's in both their names).

17 March 1997

I hadn't even noticed that Imrryr turned a year old 6 days ago. Life's just been busy. Oh well.

2 March 1997

I think I missed some updates in there, as I'm sure I've changes things since the entry below. I've added (and then, in a few cases, removed) poems to the page, and have otherwise done little more. I'm still planning to add the MM stuff (archives, etc.) sooner vs. later, but it'll have to wait a bit longer.

14-16 February 1997

I added backgrounds to all the existing poems, and added a few new poems, too. I updated this page, the "new date" on Imrryr's main page, and changed Matt Harrop's email address way at the bottom of that page. That's all that I recall.

16-18 January 1997

Foodled with backgrounds some more, added a few links, and the new poem, "shades of blue." I also removed the link to Web Counter, since it really did slow down the page and I get stats from rpg.net anyway (thanks Sandy!).

10 January 1997

Hey look--backgrounds! Wooohoooo!

29 December 1996

After a particularly annoying inability to find out if Rush had toured through Kansas and I somehow missed it, I dug up alt.music.rush, finally got a FAQ pointer posting, and then got the new url for the Rush archives. It works, and I didn't miss the band, as they came only as close as St. Louis. Sigh.

Anyhow, I updated the Rush links, as well as fixing the relative links throughout the page so that they should all really work now. Really. Other changes include updating the bio page, adding miscellaneous contact info to the music page, and

15 December 1996

More minor work, including a link to Blair Reynolds' Room 308 Publishing, some misc. bio stuff, a sundry other very minor changes.

2 December 1996

Hey look! I worked on the page, and not just the EHP one, but my very own!!

Ahem, sorry about that, but I couldn't resist. I've spent a good chunck of time adding in new links, reworking the organizational structure of some pages (notably the Grodogiana page, though that's far from done), etc. I also answered some email that had been sitting on the account for about a month (it wasn't apparently forwarding, so I created a .forward file to be sure that wouldn't happen again. I got a few new ideas (adding the alt.books.moorock archives online) that will require some additional implementation time, but have hope that the web page has managed to become non-stagnant.

17 November 1996

Well, the page hasn't changed much in the last few months, for which I apologize: I've got material to add, jut not the time to do it. I'm fairly sure a bunch of the other links might be down, too, as I never quite fixed the relative links within the page when it moved. I hope to fix all this sooner vs. later, but that'll really depend on me quitting one of my two jobs so don't expect it anytime soon :-(

Well, now that I'm done whining, all the links should be operative: I've not checked every one, but all the poems and music lists are back online now, and I can't think of any others that are potentially screwed up. If you run across one, please email me, as always. I'm also planning to finally add backgrounds to the pages, if anyone bothers to look after them having been slate grey for so long ;-/

28 September

Miscellaneous corrections to structure, relative links, etc. Added in new links to Grodogiana and MM sections. Removed EHP links as primary (we have our own home now), and shifted links to EHP stuff to games page. I hope to get some backgrounds to work eventually. Really.

end August to 13 September

Updates of Moorcock readings, reorganization continues, new poems, revision to old poems, and such.

24-25 August 1996

Major revision and reorganization of the Event Horizon pages, with some expansion (including the addition of the Gen Con trivial contest winners, expanded info on EHP luminaries, and an up-to-date rendering of our current duties/spheres of influence). I also shunted several of the literature-oriented links to their own page.

sometime before the above

The previous batch of changes involved the addition of John Davey as a contact person for Nomads of the Time Streams, as well as a few new Moorcock links; more poems to the non-Migration Patterns page; I added several more game links, as well as links to a new Porcupine Tree page, the Grohe homepage, the Science article about life on Mars, the Weather Channel, and the Surrelist Compliment Generator (thanks Scott). I also changed the picture of my wife and I to just me under the bio, which I've still managed to not delete.

Return to Imrryr.
